Located on the eastern side of Viska Luka bay, the harbour wall at Kut is quieter and usually less crowded than the main mooring at Vis Town. Lazy-lines are laid on as is power and water and there is usually a a member of Harbour staff on hand to offer a friendly and helpful service with mooring. There is a new harbour office just behind the dock where staff are very helpful. Payment is currently cash-only (as of 2009) though there was talk of card facilities for the future.
With 2-4 metres of water you will usually find this area restricted to yachts and motor-cruisers of less than 50 feet. Kut also provides better all round shelter and is less susceptible to the uncomfortable swell caused by south-easterly weather. As the harbour wall in Vis town itself (about 1 km walk to the west) is more trendy, bigger yachts tend to head in that direction. Anchoring in the inner bay is now prohibited but is possible in the outer bay. It is not unusual to find larger vessels, possibly one from the Croatian Navy, at anchor here.
During the summer Vis Town is a Port of Entry, with moorings by the Ferry Dock in Viska Luka, with the Harbour Office opposite.
