Okuklje: Walk to Chapel
Walk with views - 1.8km (there and back)
This short walk climbs out of Okuklje starting in the centre of the village and heading south west along the water front following the main road out of the village take the first turn left as you leave the houses behind and walk up hill for around 700m. After the first hairpin take the next turn on the right (unsign-posted in 2011) and follow the smaller track until you reach the chapel that sits on the knoll that overlooks the bay.
This appears to be a relatively recent church (perhaps 1-200 years old) that has been recently renovated and in itself is of no particular interest (unless you want to sit in a small church). The view however is why you have made the short climb from Okuklje. It includes not only the anchorage and the village but panoramic views out over the mainland and the Elefati Islands.
Reverse the route to return to the village. The walk is about 900m in each direction and rises about 65-70 metres but it is worth taking a bottle of water with you as it can feel quite short and steep. Just what the legs ordered after a day of sailing.
