Most sailors approach Otok Vis either from the north, directly from Kremik (Primosten) or via Hvar, or from the east from either Korcula or Lastovo. As such Vis Town is the most convenient/closest land fall, though Komiza is also easily accessible from either direction.

The entrance into Viska Luka is between lights on Otok Horst (b - light house to the west of the bay) and Hr Krava (c - concrete pillar to the east of the bay). Within the bay you have the choice of several harbour walls and a large area to anchor in. Vis also has a fuel berth and regular ferry services to Split and Hvar Town.

Viska Luka itself is a large anchorage which offers good all around shelter, though Bora and Sirrocco might make occupying the harbour wall could be uncomfortable. Advice under these circumstances is to anchor in the bay at Ru (on the west side of Viska Luka) off the harbour wall at Kut or in one of the bays at Luka Rogacic.
